The Litmus Founding Team

About Us

We're building a better way for startups to hire engineers.

Traditional technical interviews—algorithmic tests, abstract coding challenges—don't tell you much about whether someone can actually do the job. They definitely don't tell you if a candidate can work in your codebase, use your tools, or solve the specific problems your team faces.

Litmus turns a simple description into a full take-home assessment. Candidates download the problem, work in their own IDE, and submit their solution. You see how they code, think, and build on work that actually matters to your product.

We handle everything: generating assessments from a prompt, managing candidate workflows, and tracking metrics like commit patterns and code quality. You get genuine signal about job fit without spending days in interview loops.

We built this because we've lived both sides of the problem. As engineers at startups, Meta, Two Sigma, and Morgan Stanley, we've seen bad hires slow teams down. As candidates, we watched AI make traditional assessments meaningless. And working directly with early-stage founders, we kept hearing the same frustration: hiring was consuming their time while giving them terrible signal about candidates.

The hiring process needed to change. So we changed it.

Happy building,
